The students will learn how silkscreen is applied In industry, commercial art, and in home crafts. Several silkscreen projects will be ex plored so that the student may learn the different crafts and as well, have articles he/she can take home and use. These projects are: the techniques of transferring color photograph slides to T-shirts; designing personalized stationery or invita tions (photographic techniques will be included so that a par ticular face, pet or exotic script can be used within the design); and general fabric printing for those students in terested in designing and sewing their own clothing. No previous silkscreen experience is required. NOTE: Special em phasis will be placed on the designing and printing of per le B. Greenspan, M.F.A. Introduction To Stained Glass This course will provide complete derr tlon In design and construction of stained glass-panels and windows, The basic course requirement will be for each stu dent to design and construct at least one stained glass panel or window approximately one square foot in size. Emphasis will be on high-quality craftmanshlp and creativity, whether a traditional or contemporary approach to design is chosen by the student. During the course the students will examine books and photographs of stained glass work and will be pro vided with a bibliography of periodicals and books pertaining to the craft. Upon completion of the course, each student will have the necessary knowledge, ability and confidence to progress to larger, rriore complex windows and panels. NOTE: November 25 Is a holiday. With the help of handouts and slide-Illustrated lec tures,. the class will be taken step-by-step from use of the camera as a visual tool, to accurate film processing, to effi cient printing technique, through final presentation methods (gallery approved framing, handmade photo books, and preparation for publication). Hands-on instruction and a rudimentary discussion of the camera's vision as distinct from their own will give the photographers confidence in further ex ploration of photographic arts. I\ photography describes two major variations: photogramms or rayogramms (after the American surrealist Man Ray), and the photomontage. Though both were first used In the mid 1920s, there are many Indications that these methods are of greater importance In present-day experimental art than they have ever been. Photography as an art Is directly connected to technical Innovations, and is constantly changing. It has only surprisingly fresh ways to become a ma^o/etemennn the art of the seventies.
