Work is a sufficient excuse,—we have other things to do, and it con- stitutes a permissible division of la- bour ; but if we have not other things to do, if we are idle habitually, as are some children and many adults, then I conceive that it would be a wholesomer and sounder discipline if we spent some time in clearing up after ourselves.
