About this work

Description

He wears riding boots, holds a riding-crop and wears a top hat. Apparently a former jockey and later riding master known as Dan Seffert. In 1838 a George Daniel Seffert had been heard in the insolvency court: he was described as "formerly of Osnaburgh street, Regent's- park, horse-dealer, then of No. 314, Oxford-street, and of Berkley-mews, and Black Lion-lane, Bayswater, livery stable-keeper, job-master, and horse-dealer, and late of No. 12 Park-terrace, Regent's-park" (The London gazette,1838, vol, 2, p. 2155)
