BERKELEY’s, alias WatTerTON’s Lanps, granted by Thomas Lord Berkeley (fourth) to Philip'Waterton; in 1399 (1 Henry IV.) sold to Edward Huntley, James Bailey, Ro- bert Atkins, Richard Laurance, and William Harvey. Bevineron Farm. Hicks’s lands came to John Mallet, and, by his death, to Alice his daughter and heir, wife of Walter Kyrle, Esq. Hurne’s Lawns; the inheritance of Mary and Elizabeth, daughters and coheirs of Tho- mas Hurne, who died 4 Charles I. Wiruer’s Lanps were aliened, by Robert Wither, by fine 3 Edward II. to the Abbey of Kingswood, and became the inheritance of Edward Fust, Esq. BuisBERY Farm, parce] of Kingswood Ab- bey, became the inheritance of William Bas- set, Esq. The farm was named from the family of Blisbery, once resident here. Brapstowe. A little manor, parcel of the Abbey of St. Austin, Bristol, which devolved to the Berkeleys by patent of K. Edward VI. EcrTon, alias Eecton, in Halmer. A ham- let, consisting of divers freeholds, granted out by the Lord Berkeley, in the reign of Rich. I. and afterwards a great part whereof was, in the time of Henry III. the land of John de Acton or Egeton. Ham. Bevington, Clayton, Pedington, Aple- ridge, and Stone, make the Manor of Ham. Hamrattow. Wanswell, Saniger, Halmer, Ecton, &c. make the Manor of Hamfallow. VEELHAM, a little manor of Ham, the in- heritance of Robert de Veel, temp. Henry III. was sold by William Lord Stourton, 33 Henry VIII., to several purchasers, and at this day (1639) the several inheritances of Thomas Machin, Robert Bayly, George Watkins, Tho- mas Tindale, John Smith, and lately of Walter Abevall; held of Lord Berkeley, as of his Manor of Ham, by suit of the Hundred Court, and the rent per annum of 24s. and 1 lb. of cummin; of which 10s. 4d. was paid by... WittoucuHBiz’s Lanps, late BowseEr’s, being divers lands, lying scattered, held of Lord Berkeley, as of his Manor of Ham, by suit to the Hundred Court, and the rent of 18s, 4d. a year, and are now the several inhe- ritances of William Thorpe, of Wanswell, who holds a close of pasture, containing seven acres, called Beddicroft, alias Berricroft, near Berkeley Town, purchased by George Thorpe, his father, of John Cluterbooke of Hinton, and Jane his wife, in- 40 Elizabeth (1597), who payes noe part of his chief rent.
