![of the Caine Borough Council. ]\'Ir. Mayor, Lady and Gentlemen, I have the honour to make my contribution to the Annual Report of the Medical Officer of Health and the outline in statistical and narrative form the activities of the Public Health Department during 1970» During the year there has been an awareness on the part of the general public as to the availability of the new higher Grants for the improvement of houses, £52,34 having been paid out in contrast to £1750 in 1969* Ifost of the Grants, however, are for owner/occupiers. The Borougli Council has continued its policy of Improvements to existing Council Heuses. In the sphere of refuse disposal it is disappointing to record the collapse of the Consortium set up to establish a central incinerator plant. The plans for the extension of the Cewage Disposal Werks are well advanced and it is hoped to commence the project in 1971. I am indebted to Dr. Wray for his guidance and to the members of the Public Health Committee and Staff of the Department for their continued support during the year, I am, Lady and Gentlemen, Your obedient servant, GLIPFDRD Co DOITOING, Borough Surveyor and Senior Public Health Inspector](https://iiif.wellcomecollection.org/image/b29087636_0033.jp2/full/800%2C/0/default.jpg)
