    COMMITTEES At various FAO conferences the establishment of national nutrition organizations or committees has been recom- mended and their functions outlined. The Committee is in agreement with the views expressed at these conferences, and holds the view that national nutrition organizations can do much to develop nutrition work in its various aspects in Eastern coun- tries. It is glad to note that, in some of these countries, national nutrition organizations, councils, or committees of various kinds are already in existence. These are in various stages of devel- opment and in general much could be done to increase their effectiveness. Their structure, composition, and administrative affiliations will, of course, differ from country to country. National nutrition organizations should be linked with the regional organization of FAO through National FAO Committees. [19]
