Children attending 3daintained Schools receive one-third of a piii* of milk free of charge daily. During the year, 3.485.9'>s one-third pint bottles were supplied. CLEANLINESS AND CLOTHING The general standard of cleanliness is satisfactory leaving regard to the congested conditions of the area. Health Vi.sitors made periodic inspections during school term and 66.139 examinations were carried out. 1,418 pupils were found to be infested with vermin. The standard of clothing and footwear are generally satisfactory. VACCINATION When the Xational Health Sei\ice Act 1941) came into operation in 1948, tlu! compulsory vaccination of chihlren under the \'accinatif)n A(‘ts 1867 to 1907 was no longer enforceable. Since 1948 there has been a considerable decline in the numl)er of (diildren vaccinated. During 1953, 8,642 childi-en were (‘xaniined by Scdiool .Medical Otli- cers at routine School Inspections. Children from the north-end of the town are treated at the North Clinic, l^ark Road West. Children living in south Riidvenhead are dealt with at the South Clinic, Bedford Avenue, Rock Ferry. During term all three clinics are open on Alonday, Wednesday and Friday mornings. In the school holiday periods the Central Clinic remains open for the treatment of minor ailments, and the carrying out of special examinations.
