![There is no wasting of face muscles or indeed of any muse the upper part of the body. The chest and heart yield no sical signs of disease. Lower extremities.—Left.—Quite natural, of good firm c tencer all over. Knee-jerk natural. Fig. 2. Fig. 3. Eight.—Thigh muscles very flabby particularly the ant but she has good power of extension and still better of fit circumference of right thigh rather less than that of left. ] jerk very feeble on right side. Right lower leg.—Calf muscles extremely wasted, (Fij almost disappeared. Peronei, tibialis anticus, and ext longus digitorum are all very flabby, but not so far gone s calf muscles (Fig. 8). The small foot muscles do not seem much affected. She cannot stand on tip-toe on that leg at ah the foot is very flat. Sensation is perfect, but the leg is a] very cold, the contrast in this respect between this leg an left is very striking.
