![under the names of |lj ifjj shan Id (mountain thistle), |I| fj!f slum tsing, f[I] 7|t sien shu. It is a common mountain plant with leaves clasping the stem. The leaves are from three to four lobed, serrated, on the margin and provided with small spines. The root resembles ginger. Kiu huang, LI, 8, and (7/., VII, 9, sub ts-ang shu, representation of an Atractylis. Tatar., Cat., 5:—Tslang shu (chi). Radix? Gauger describes and depicts [5] the drug pai shu and [46] the tslang shu. Hake., Sc. pap., 255 : — 7Yang shu. Rhizome of Atracty- loiles, sp. P. Smith, 28 :—Peh shuh, Atractylodes alba and tsang shuh, Atractglodes rubra [species names invented by P. Smith]. Cast. Med., p. 188 (08-70):—Pai shu 1885 exported from Ning po to other Chinese ports about 28,000 piculs.
