Thirty-five minutes after fix, pains are very fevere ; heat great; face very much fluflied ; pulfe 120, full and ftrong. The right fub- clavian was now comprefled. The compref- fion was continued half an hour ; the pains of elbow and wrift now entirely ceafed, but that of the knee continued without altera- tion; the pulfe fell to 112. The tourniquet was then removed from the arm, and applied to the right thigh ; and in fifteen minutes the pain entirely left the knee, and the pulfe was 104: the comprefiion was then difcontinued.
