The base of the cranium presented a very rugged and irregular appearance. All the bony points and depressions and elevations corresponding to convolutions, standing out in undue prominence. The general aspect giving the idea that the base of the skull had been twisted round a centre correspond¬ ing to the Sella Turcica, the left lesser wing of sphenoid being bent down¬ wards and forwards, the right upwards and back¬ wards to the extent of nearly J-in. The left pos¬ terior clinoid process was nearly three times the size of its fellow, and extended forwards so as nearly to touch the posterior edge of lesser wing of sphenoid. Numerous old pleuritic i adhesions on left side ; both lungs intensely ; congested with dark j fluid blood ; pericar- I dium and heart nor¬ mal ; none of the cardiac cavities unduly distended ; aorta slightly atheromatous.
