Description
A clinical film portraying pyloric stenosis (the infant boy is fed from a bottle and projectile vomits copiously) and the steps of Rammstedt's (spelt incorrectly on the film; it should be 'Rammstedt') operation in a child four weeks old. The baby is very dehydrated and distressed during examination. The obstruction is removed surgically. After the operation, the baby is fed and is discharged to his mother. An intertitle observes that between 1914-18 no child survived this operation/condition but now do due to improvements in post-operative resscitation. Near the end, at 26 minutes, 100 patients who had undergone the operation attended a party at the hospital; there is delightful footage of children grouped together as well as eating party food.
