![To the Chairman and Members of Helper Urban District Council. Mr. Chairman, Lady and (ientlemen, I have the honour to present to you my Annual Report on the liealth and sanitary circumstances of the Urban District for the year ended 31st December, 1966. The Registrar General’s estimate of population stands at 16,060 an increase of 190 over that for 196.5. Live Births registered during the year numbered 232, an increase of 8 on the 1965 registrations. Still Births recorded during the vear numbered 9, an increase of 1 on last year’s figures. Deaths during the year numbered 265 (124 males and 141 females), an increase of 27 on the 1965 figures. Deaths from heart diseases and disease associated with the heart, 64 vascular lesions caused 48 deaths, and cancer of all sites caused 40 deaths. Deaths from cancer of the lung and bronchus numbered 7, 5 males and 2 females. This is a decrease of 3 on last year’s figures. A total of 14 notifications of infectious diseases were recorded (as against 82 notifications recorded during 1965) made up as follows : Measles 6, Pneumonia 2, Tuberculosis Respiratory 3, Whooping Cough 1, Ei^'sipelas 1, Puerperal Pyrexia 1. The Infant Mortality Rate of 18.9 for England and Wales was again the lowest ever recorded in this country. The general trend was also reflected in this area. During 1966 I am again pleased to be able to report that we received no notifications of food poisoning cases in this district. I have once again Lady and Gentlemen, to place on record my thanks to the Chairman and Members of the Health Committee, to Dr. ]\Iorgan, the County Medical Officer, to the General Practi- tioners, Health Visitors, The Clerk of the Council and the Chief Public Health Inspector and the other Chief Officers for their support and assistance and to the staff of the Department for their untiring efforts during the year.
