A.L.s., 3 pages 4to., closely written, to David Garrick (endorsed by him) Paris, Mai 8, 1768 A very flattering letter introducing to Garrick a member of the French stage, who wished to perfect himself in the histrionic art by witnessing the extraordinary talents of the English performer. “ Je suis trop sus- toint par moyenne de la maniere honnete dont vous accuilles les etran- gers pour croire que vous ne receves pas avec bonte un helvetique, franc et loyal qui ne connait le celebre Garrick que de reputation; et qui meurt d’envie de le connoitre plus particulierement.” He informs Garrick that his tragedy of The Gamesters has been adapted to the French stage by M. Saurin, with some exaggeration of the catastrophy of the poem, which alteration appears to give satisfaction to the French public.
