    REMEDIES AND PRESCRIPTIONS. ALPHABETICALLY ARRANGED. ACETATE OF LEAD CERATE. This, like Turner's Cerate (see) is a cooling and drying pre- paration for Borts and stupLeE Utcers. It is prepared thus: Acetate of Lead in powder.............cs00 2 drachms. VU Mn eae tee se ek Dy Oho oxide na. dad Gv00s 2 ozs. RaW ce Cte as riot cyt ciesstesascsncesed 4 pint. Melt the wax in 7 fluid ounces of the Oil; then add gradually the Acetate of Lead, separately rubbed down with the remaining Oil, and stir with a wooden spatula until they be thoroughly incorporated. Smear on, or apply on lint, night and morning. Nore that, if a sore is much inflamed, it is better to use a Lotion than an Ointment, as the latter is naturally more heating. ALUM AND ZINC WATER. To CLEANSE and strengthen weak Uxcers and also INDOLENT ones, the following prescription may be tried with benefit ; it makes a most useful lotion :— ae em es ee NUIT nt, ) ciao hss ck -v'p vivk'c «Sa clan SES s Suen Sones 4 02. When Uucers are very PAINFUL and IRRITABLE, the following Lotion is, as the word anodyne implies, easine and sooth- ing :— UIT DS ULINN otc fest ew asa iy 0 Ss Sasa Cove eles . drachms. Rub the Opium in a mortar with a little of the warm water for a few minutes, then pour the remaining quantity of water upon it, and mix them well together. Paint on or apply on lint two or three times a day.
