L.s. 134 pp. 4to, Oct. 27, 1805-Feb. 19, 1806, one to Emma’s mother, Mrs. Cadogan, the rest to Lady Hamilton herself, about the disposal of Nelson’s body, and expressing the greatest devotion to his memory as a Bayard “sans peur et sans reproche”’ (1) Accounts with his agents, Messrs. Marsh & Creed ; Memo. left by Mr. Pollard relative to Prize Money, etc. (6) 2% pp. folio, Sep. 30, 1806, granting Horatia Nelson Thompson the right to use the name Nelson only | the Duke of Queensberry, asking for financial help; L.s. + pp. 4to, w.d. [| Fuly, 1808], to Lord St. Vincent, asking him for help in getting a pension from the Government (2) signed at the bottom of each page, Oct. 16, 1808, damaged and fragile, each sheet protected by transparent paper.— HAMILTON (Sir W.) Office Copies of his Will and Codicil, April, 1803. Emma’s will begins: (3) If I can be buried in St. Paul’s, I should be very happy to be near the glorious Nelson, whom I loved and admired, and as once Sir William, Nelson, and myself had agreed we should all be buried near each other. If the King had [not] granted him a public funeral, this would have been, that three persons who were so much attached to each other from virtue and friendship should have been laid in one grave when they quitted this ill-natured, slanderous world, etc. Goes on to leave all her property to her mother Mary Doggin, or Cadogan, for her life, and afterwards to Horatia, and. complains bitterly of her cousins, the Connors. and 8vo, 1810-11, to Lady Hamilton, friendly gossiping letters, sending presents of game, etc. Sir Harry had been one of Emma’s earliest lovers, and she had lived with him at Up Park in Sussex before joining Greville (5) 1813], Memorial Setting out her services to the country, and claims to financial assistance ; and another, similar’
