    THE NEW YORK MEDICAL JOURNAL. EDITED BY JAMES B. HUNTER, M. D., AND WILLIAM T. LUSK, M. D. PUBLISHED MONTHLY. Each Number contains not less than 112 pages, making two large Octavo Volumes yearly, of over 7 00 pages each. THE VOLUMES BEGIN IN JANUARY AND JULY. The attention of the Medical Profession is invited to this Journal, which is now in the seventh year of its successful publication. It has taken a prominent position among the periodical medical literature of this country, and has received the highest encomiums from the press both at home and abroad. The New York Medical Journal is printed with clear long-primer type, on good paper, and is distinguished by the excellence of its mechanical execution. It numbers among its contributors some of the best medical talent of the country, and, since its enlargement, contains more reading-matter than any monthly Medi- cal Journal published in America. Space is assigned in each number of the Journal to “ Original Communica- tions,” “ Clinical Records from Private and Hospital Practice,” “Reports of So- cieties,” “ Bibliographical and Literary Notes,” “ Reports on the Progress of Medicine,” and “Miscellaneous and Scientific Notes.” All these departments are already well provided for; but additions and im- provements will be introduced as far as the increasing facilities at our command will permit. The Reports on the Progress of Medicine, presented monthly, form a promi- nent feature of this Journal. These reports are gathered from all sources ; but especial attention is paid to foreign medical periodicals, for the reason that this class of literature is not usually so accessible to Americ an physicians as the do- mestic journal^. These reports are prepared by gentlemen who have given special attention to the departments assigned to them, and embody the latest advices in the medical sciences. In the Bibliographical Department it is the policy of the Journal to give brief but well-digested notices of all new medical publications. The great number of such publications now issuing from the press forbids the giving of extended criti- cal reviews, which find their proper place in the large quarterlies. Under the head of Miscellaneous and Scientific Notes will be found, each month, items of news, and matters of general scientific and professional interest. This department of the Journal has become a favorite with our subscribers, and every effort will be made to render it still more attractive and acceptable.
