Notes
Typus terra incognita is an artist book that displays a deep understanding and interpretation of historical artist Anna Bella Geiger’s geopolitical and geopoetical perspective on The World from 1974 to 2024. The special publication includes historical works, new pieces created for the project, and drawings, sketches and notes that have never been exposed or published before. Anna Bella’s use of maps and cartographic language have been taking a central role on her multidisciplinary art creation since the beginning of her career as a starting point for discussing and questioning colonial and hegemonic policies.-- publisher's website.
"Amid transparencies, frottages, and drawings, we encounter enigmatic equations, unfolding layers, and playful juxtapositions—such as those formed by three triangular shapes representing Africa, Latin America, and Brazil, resonating as echoes of shared identities. These elements take us back to the origins, something that resonates deeply within us and adaptable across contexts."-- Susana Bañuelos, publisher's website.
