About this work

Description

The college was founded in 1458 by William of Waynflete. "In the corner an architect is explaining to two men his plan for a new quadrangle"; they are accompanied by a clergyman pointing to the college (possibly Edward Butler president of Magdalen 1722-1745?). Only one range of the quadrangle was built, the New Building (Petter p. 11)
