    A.D. 1726 N° 483. Pectoral Drops for Rheumatism, Gravel, &c. OKELL’S PATENT. GEORGE, by the grace of God, &c., to all to whom these Presents shall come greeting. WHEREAS our trusty and welbeloved Beniamin Okell, Chymist, hath by his peticon humbly represented vnto vs that, by long study, application, and 5 great expence, he has found out and brought to perfection “ANew Chymicall Preparacon and Medicine,” which iie hath stiled Doctor Bateman's Pectoral Drops, being Pectoral Anodyne and Antiiiysterick, working chiefly by Moderate Sweat and Vrine, exceeding all other Medicines yet found out for the Rheumatism, highly vsefull vnder the Afflictions of the Stone, 10 Gravell, Agues, and Hystericks,” as many hundredf of our subiectf have already experienced; and as the peticoner is the first and sole inventor thereof, and that the medicine is new, and hath not been hitherto vsed in Great Britain except by him and those to whom he hath communicated the same. And having therefore humbly prayd vs, in regard to his great industry and expence 15 in inventing and perfecting the said medicine, and the advantage which by meanes thereof will accrew to the publick, to grant him our Royall Letters Patentf for the sole vse and benefit of the said Invention for the term of fourteen years, wee being willing to give encouragement to all arts and in- vencons which may be for the publick vse and benefitt, are gratiously pleased go to gratifie him in his request. KNOW YEE, THEREFORE, that wee, of our especiall grace, certain knowledge, and meer motion, have given and granted, and by these Presents, for vs, our heires and successors, do give and grant vnto the said Beniamin
