![Quinine and Acid Mixtures—continued. R. Tincturoe quinoe composite, 3iij.; infusi aurantii compositi, ad ^iij. Misce. Signetur.— A small tablespoonful to be taken twice a-day with one teaspoonful of cod-liver oil. In scrofulous diseases. Vel. R1. Quinse disulphatis, gr. j.; acidi sulphurici diluti, Tr\j.; syrupi aurantii, 3ss.; aquae, 3iiiss. Misce. Ter die sumendus. Very useful in strumous ophthalmia, some forms of urticaria, and in almost all cases of debility. 64. Quinine and Iron. R. Quinae disulphatis, ferri sulphatis, aa gr. ij.; acidi sulphurici diluti, • n\v.; infusi calunibae, ^ij. Misce. Capiat 313.—3iv. ter die. Vel R. Quinae et ferri citratis, gr. j.; tincturae calumbae, TY|x. ; infusi ejusdem, ad ^ss. Misce, fiat haustus ter die sumendus. An excellent tonic during convalescence from acute disease. 65. Citrate of Iron. R. Ferri citratis, gr. xij.; aquae destillatae, ^iij. Misce. Dosis, ^ss. ter die. 66. An Acid Stimulant. R;. Acidi hydrochlorici diluti, mjv.; spiritus aetheris compositi, Tr\yiij.; misturse camphorae, 3iij. Misce, fiat haustus omnibus sextis horis sumendus. Becommended by Dr. Stieglitz, of St. Petersburgh, as a stimulant for a child, aged about five, suffering from typhoid fever. 67. Stimulant and Antispasmodic. R. Acidi nitrici diluti, 3x1]*.; tincturse cardamomi composite, 3iij.; syrupi simplicis, ^iiiss.; aquae, ^j. Misce. Sumat 3j.—3ij. secunda quaque hora. Dr. Gibb states that nitric acid is a specific in the treatment of hooping- cough, curing the disease in from two to fifteen days. He recommends this formula. 68. Alkaline Laxative and Tonic. R . Sodse bicarbonatis, ; tincturse rhei, 3ij.; infusi calunibse, decocti taraxaci, aa 3vij. Misce. Capiat 5ij. nocte maneque. For a child one year old, suffering from dyspepsia, with offensive breath, acid eructations, sour evacuations, and constipation. 69. Muriatic Acid and Cascarilla. R'. Acidi hydrochlorici diluti, rrpvj.; tincturse aurantii, syrupi ejusdem, aa 3iss.; infusi cascarillae, ^j. Misce. Sumat cochleare parvum ter die.
