The first stage was represented by installations in dark basements, about 10 feet below the level of the ground. ]>rovided with large zinc tubs, and generally insufficient e(jui])ment. They weie badly lighted and ventilated, anil not very accessible. In the second stage, troughs let in the Moor were sub- stituted for the zinc tubs. Wntilation, light, and general C([ui])ment were im]>roved. In the third and final stage the installations are either on the ground floor, or only a few feet below. They are sj)lendidly lighted, efficiently ventilated, easily accessible, ])rovided with tiled troughs, marble or tiled walls and cells, atul fitted out with the most modern douching arrangements. Frankfokt-on-.Main . . Comenius School. .Mannheim Wohlgelegen School. Karlsruhe vSchiller School. Munich Fluhr School. .Munich Elisabeth School. XuREMBERo Bisiuarck School. Hali.e 'Phor Strasse School. Cologne Frank Strasse School. Cologne Eindenburger Alice School. I);'ssELDORF Stotller Strasse School. After viewing thi‘ shower baths, visitors would do well to insjM‘ct the school buililings and eipiipment. Thiw may probably find that London cannot comjude with the tv|)e of (‘leriientary schools which has been erected since 1900 in (lerman towns, even in those with ]>opulations of Io0,000. This is no candess assiution, but the result of a careful and thorough comparison. London is reducing htu’ expenditure on elementary schools, (lerrnany is adding to hers. 4'he (lermans, with that breadth and depth of thought which characterisi's](https://iiif.wellcomecollection.org/image/b22449516_0016.jp2/full/800%2C/0/default.jpg)
