But fuch like cheats , and how far thefe kind of bones are falfe and genuine, may eafily be made out by an Anatomift fkilful in the Oheology of animals: nay any one may make a probable conjefture at leah in this matter, if iie but compute according to the dimenfions of fuch bones, what niuft be the true fize or bulk of the man, whofe body as is pretended, whea intire, was compofed of parts and limbs, analogous or anfwe* ring in a due proportion to thefe remains. For if by fuch com- putation ’t is fpund, the produft does amount to fo vah a hruc- ture of parts, and the whole arifes to fo exceflive a heighth, as there is not any natural obfervation to fupport , nor any fure authority to countenance fuch a dedudtion; then there is a great deal of reafon to conclude, or at leah fufpecl they are not genuine, but fuppofitions and falfe. But this bone now before us, though it be fo vahly great, cannot in the leah be fufpecled to have appertained to any other creature than a man; for being compleat every way, and an* fwering in ali particulars to the common forehead-bones of other men, excepting in its magnitude; there cannot be any manner ©f doubt, but that 't is certainly humane, efpecially if we con- fider that the os frontis of a man is of fo peculiar a make, from the globofe fhape of his head, that there is not to be found a boneamong all the animals of the creation, that bears anyrefem- blance to its figure, if we except that of a Monkey; but all this genus being of a much fmaller fize than a man, gives us no umbrage of fcruple; and whatever reafon we may have to make us doubt in other the like cales, yet here we have none, this being bey.ond all controverfy a true and genuine part of a large humane animal.
