ListorCs Improved Glove for Medical Operations^ ^c. the other portion of the glove I make of india-rubber, the elasticity of which will allow of the free movement of the hand. The two portions of the glove may be made either separate, the skin being secured on the hand by the india-rubber being put on over it, or the two portions may be made together, the skins being attached to the india-rubber. 6 Instead of being made of skin those portions of the glove where it is necessary to preserve the sense of touch may be made of some other fine substance, such as india-rubber of a thinner kind than that forming the body of the glove, the thin portion being secured on the hand by or attached to the body of the glove. 10 My improved gloves can be used with advantage in medical, surgical, or chemical operations, and especially as an obstetric or midwifery glove, the main object being to secure the practitioner from danger in diseases like syphilis, that may be communicated by contact to any exposed surface. 16 LONDON: Printed by George Edward Eyre and William Spottiswoods, Printers to the Queen’s most Excellent Majesty. 1871.
