By this method, the Body is daily encreafed in its bulk, and the Sphere of circulation is enlarged. The _ Heart, by its propelling force, continues thus to unfold the veffels, till their refift- ance, becomes fuperior to its force, in its longitudinal direétion. Then longitudinal Growth ceafes, but the fides of the Veffels ftill giving way, the animal continues to grow in breadth only. As different feries of veflels are thus unfolded, various Phceno- mena in the animal body appear. At feven months Teeth begin to pufh thro’ the Gums ; at feven years they drop off, fhoved out of their places by their growing Succeffors; at fourteen another great change happens, and at twenty-one the chins of the males begin to fhew the figns of manhood.
