But you will allow me to remark that such occurrences, even if true, and re- member I don’t admit their truth, are not super- natural, because they do not point to the existence of intelligent agencies and powers residing in the Unseen. Then with regard to the spiritualistic pheno- mena, the authors of the Unseen Universe draw what is, I think, a very just distinction between the miracles of Christianity and the so-called spiritualistic miracles. The miracles of Chris- tianity had an object in view, gave new infor- mation, and invaded the world. The spiritualistic miracles have no object, give no new information, and, far from invading the world, are exhibited only under conditions which are adverse to scientific scrutiny.
