Description

A room in the house of Doctor Camphor, a surgeon-apothecary (general practitioner). Left to right, Doctor Camphor; Lubin Log, a rich timber merchant; and Flexible, a lawyer, in the play Love law and physic by James Kenney, Act II, scene 1. "His greatest successes, in association with the actor John Liston, were in farce. Love, law and physic, which opened at Covent Garden on 20 November 1812, provided Liston with the first, and most enduring, of a string of lower middle-class cockney roles, Lubin Log."
