    property to the benefit of others, he is now entered into that rest, where he will enjoy the most exalted felicity throughout a perpetual duration. Such then is a very brief sketch of the private character of the individual of whom the world is deprived; those who best knew him are most able to appre- ciate his merits, both in his professional capacity and domestic circles. If it be the language of presumption to say, that he was the greatest whom the world knew, it may surely with truth be asserted that a great man has fallen.
