[ <5? ] which no obfiruBion whatever can rejift, the flagnant morbid matter and humours are rendered fluid, and fet in motion, they are repelled with certain applications from the vital or particular parts, while others are defended and flrengthened with astherial medicines, or magnetic plates and bars. In certain cafes, magnetic and other influences, are applied to attract powerfully morbid matter from the upper and vital parts to the lower extremities ; while ftreams of electric fire, irrefiflably per¬ vading, and carrying through the whole fyftem, or home to parts particularly affeded, attenuating, aetherial, anti- fpafmodic, and balfamic medicines, fubduing and eradi¬ cating the difeafe, and giving new fprings to the vital prin¬ ciples.-The fixed air, effluvia, and magnetic influences, are occafionally aiflfled by a few elegant Ample medicines, and by a proper regulation of the diet and regimen of the patient; but are often fuificient of themfelves, without any fuch help for they are of fuch extraordinary, adive, penetrating, and falutary a nature, as not only to corred, and remove the materies morbi-—the immediate caufe of difeafe,— but alfo to fupply a vivifying fpirit—a pabulum vitce, to the injured or decayed conftitution 5 on which account tney are nn .t . 01
