The doctrine of eternal movement is developed by ‘Abd al-Karim al-Jili (whose name does not occur in this copy; d. be- tween 808/1406 and 819/1417, see Nichol- son, Studies in Islamic Mysticism. 81) into the conception of man’s mystical rest- lessness on his journey from, to, and in God.
