That the Avhole of the works connected with the engines and reservoirs, and the so-called process of disinfection, Avould be enormously expensive, and would inflict incalcidable evil upon the health of the inhabitants of the town. That it is veiy doubtful if the lime-water or lime-process would pay its own expenses, even as against spontaneous subsidence in these im- mense I’eservoirs, irrespeetive of any sanitary eonsiderations. CONCLUSIONS. Tor the reasons above named, and fully diseussed in the body of this report, I cannot advise your honourable board to sanction the mortgage of the public rates of the borough of Leieester for the exeeution of this scheme ; and I reeommend that, for the protection of the Local Board and the preservation of the health and lives of the inhabitants, you should al- together refuse sueh sanetion.
