Improvements in the Preparation of Materials to be Used as Disinfectants, Deodorisers, and Antiseptics, as well as for the Destruction of Parasites Infesting* Man and the Lower Animals and similar Uses. I Richard Vine Tuson of New Charlton, Kent, Professor of Chemistry, Royal Veterinary College, Camden Town, London, do hereby declare the nature of my said invention to be as follows :— According to a previous invention for which Letters Patent were granted to me 5 (A.D. 1879—19th March No. 1081) I prepared disinfectants by saturating or partly saturating with sulphurous acid a solution or solutions of well known salts of zinc, iron, manganese, aluminum or copper, or a mixture of these. My present invention consists in saturating or partly saturating with sulphurous acid a solution of corrosive sublimate or other salt of mercury in water, alcohol, or 10 other convenient solvent. I prefer to use corrosive sublimate, but the nitrates and many other salts of mercury will give similar results. I he solution of corrosive sublimate or other salt of mercury saturated or partly saturated with sulphurous acid may be used singly or may be mixed with any chloride, 15 sulphate, nitrate or acetate of zinc, iron, manganese, aluminum, or copper, or a mixture of these. 1 have obtained a good result by saturating or partly saturating with sulphurous acid a mixture of chloride of zinc and corrosive sublimate. Dated this 9th day of September 1887. 20 H. GARDNER, 166, Fleet Street, London, Agent for the said Professor R. V. Tuson.
