The furrounding fituation of Alexandria, I have juftly drawn, but Rofetta, fituated on the banks of the Nile, is an amazing contrail, covered with luxurious verdure, where fruit, vegetables. See. Sec. could be at all times procured at a mode- rate expence; rendered it one of the fir ft objects to thofe who had the welfare of the fick and wounded continually on their minds; it was embraced imme- diately, efpecially when it was known there were between 20 or 30 fick feamen in open boats on the Lake Etko. The late French hofpital was taken by Sir S. S. on the fame terms they had it, after being well cleaned, and all the old beds burnt in the public fquare ; date cradles and mats were procured for them to lay on, and ftrift orders given that they lhould want for nothing that could be obtained, and the different Captains of the brigade were defiled to fend their fick by boats to this place.
