Lettering
Rajon aq. fort.
In this state, "Rajon aq. fort.", previously etched in centre of plate below the portrait, has been deleted. The etching of the portrait is more finely worked than in state I, and seven etched remarque heads have been added in the left and bottom borders. These seven heads seem to be portraits of three people: one of them is Darwin, and the others (one bearded, the other shaven) are presumably Ouless and Rajon. The bearded man resembles Ouless (though in photographs from ca. 1880 he is unbearded)
Edition
State II.
