![SECOND INSANE HOSPITAL. [Feb. '49.] eommontoraUij of Jttassatfjttssctts. In the Year One Thousand Eight Hundred and Forty-Nine. RESOLVES For the Purchase of Land and the Erection of a Second Hos- pital for the Insane. Resolved, That his excellency the Governor, by and with the advice and consent of the Council, be, and he is hereby, authorized and empowered to appoint a board of three commis- sioners, who shall purchase an eligible site in that section of the Commonwealth which they may deem expedient, and cause to be erected thereon a suitable hospital for the care and cure of the insane. The accommodations of said hospital to be sufficient for two hundred and fifty patients, a superintendent, and a steward, their families, and all the necessary subordi- nate officers. And said commissioners shall have power to make all contracts with and employ such agents as may be- come necessary to fulfil the intention of this resolve. Resolved, That said commissioners shall present all their ac- counts to the Governor and Council, to be by them audited and allowed, from time to time, as they shall deem proper, not ex- ceeding, in the whole, the sum of one hundred thousand dol- lars, and that warrants be drawn accordingly.](https://iiif.wellcomecollection.org/image/b21010742_0002.jp2/full/800%2C/0/default.jpg)
