    UNIQUE COLLECTION OF THE SERMONS PREACHED AT THE PORTUGUESE AUTOS-DE-FE, 1015-1753. 1615-1753 A.D. [44] AUTOS DA FE. Sermons preached at the Autos-de-Fé held by the Portuguese Inquisition at Lisbon, Coimbra, Evora and Goa from 1612 to 1748. A Practically Complete Series of these Portuguese Sermons, comprising together 85 vols., small 4to, vellum, wrappers, etc. Lisbon, Evora, Coimbra, Goa (various publishers), 1612-1753. £350 Innocencio (between Nos. 1,777 and 1,778). This remarkable collection is probably unique, containing 66 of the 70 publications known to bibliographers, in addition to several volumes possessing typographical variations. and one volume in manuscript. A full list of the sermons is given hereunder, stating the date, place, and name of preacher. Innocencio describes these publications as being ‘‘ justly reputed classics in the language, as they are so many monuments to the science and doctrine of our polemic theologians. In addition to these two reasons is a third, which is the rarity of copies of nearly all these publications, it being extraordinarily difficult to acquire them to-day ... after diligent search I have been able to collect thirty myself.’’ The list is as follows :— LISBON : 1621 (Sunday, 28th Nov.).
