When the knee was straight ened, the wound of the integuments and th fracture were not parallel. 18 M., set. 45. Block of stone forced by explosion against right knee. A long open wound with vertical fractur of the patella, and exposure of the condyk of the femur. 19 M., set. 48. Strong and vigorous. Direct fall on rocky ground. Transverse wound on anterior surfac of knee to extent of 8 millimetres, an transverse fracture of patella. Quantit of blood and synovia escaped. 20 M., Captain Reg-, of Dra- goons. — Whilst galloping struck right knee against wheel of' coach, and thrown down with horse. An irregular contused wound capable i admitting three fingers into the joint; tl patella fractured into fragments; ahui clant hemorrhage, and free flow of synovif tumefaction slight. 21 M., ast. 20, worker in clay pits. Pell 40 feet into a pit on to a cask. Transverse wound at anterior part i knee 12 centimetres long, largely gapin and corresponding to transverse fractui of the patella; edges separated 2 cent metres; collapse, and laid in pit all night brought to hospital on following day ; r swelling, no haemorrhage ; fractured am 22 M., set. 36, workman. Strong, san- guineous. Thrown from a rock by explosion, and fell 5 metres on ground. Patella comminuted and joint laid oper bad also fracture of lower part of leg ar dislocated clavicle.
