[Referred to in the Answer to Question 30.] Extract MINUTE of Board held at Chelsea Hospital on Monday the 3d of February 1806. READ a Memorial from the four Clerks in the Secretary’s Office, praying an increase of their Salaries. Let their Salaries, from Christmas last, be as follows ; viz. 3 st Clerk - - £. 200. After 10 years, £.250. After 20 years, £. 300 per annum. 2d D° - - - - 150. D° - 10 D° - - 200. D’ - 20 D° - - 250 D° 3d and 4th D° - - 100. D° - 5 D° - - 110. D° - 10 D° - - 120; and after 20 years - 150. Mr. Aust suggested that, from the length of the service of the 1st Clerk, then 29 years, and the 2d, 22 years, it may be reasonable that their augmentation should have a retrospect ot one year, which it may perhaps be fit to comply with : Which was approved by the Board the 3d of March 1806. N. B. The deduction of one shilling and sixpence in the pound on the Salaries, as settled by the Board the 24th of December 1795, was ordered by the Board, 20th June 1796, to be charged in the Secretary’s Contingent Bill. Appendix, No. 4. Examination of JOSEPH LYNN, Esq. First Clerk in the Office of the Secretary of Chelsea Hospital ; taken upon Oath on the 24th of March 1812. Mr. Lynn. Q- 3* HOYv long have you been employed in the Secretary’s Office at Chelsea Hospital ? -Y--J •-A. Thirty-five years in July next, and nearly twenty-six years as Chief Clerk. Q. 2. Had you ever served in the Army ?-A. I hold a Commission in an Independent Company of Invalids, now upon the retired List. Q. 3. Have you any Emoluments arising from your situation of Chief Clerk in the Seere- taiys Office, beyond the Salary of .£. 300 a year granted on the Establishment of the Hospital authorized by His Majesty's Warrant of the 16th of April 1810?_A. There . are some trifling bees upon the appointment of Warrant Officers and Tradesmen, which I should suppose, upon an average, do not amount to more than two or three guineas a year ; i have no other Emoluments.
