![nature w’ch doe p[ro]p[er]lie yssue oute of any ot the mannors lands and tenem’ts in his ma’ts possession. But there are divers other customes and duties in Wales of sondrie natures, viz., comorthes, reilthes [raiths], amobers, raglotts, staur’ d’ni, redd’ mobil’ and such like w’ch are yssuynge oute of the lands assigned unto the prince his highnes and are w’thin the compas of the charter graunted unto his highnes and p’cell of his value.” Next follows an account of the castles and forts within the principality, with the names of the constables and their fees. Salutem in Chr’o. My duetye unto y’r honor remembred : May it please you (of your accustomed clemencie) to give me leave to certiefie my knowlege in a cause w’ch (as I crediblie heare, and verilie beleeve) yo’r ho. doth christianly tender. The vicaridge of Henllan I meane, w’ch is nowe in quaestion betweene Mr. Gabrieli Parrie pi’ and Mr. Thomas Banckes deane of St. Asaph def.1 Henllan is a very spacious parish wherein are many recusantes (God amend them) where there is great want of a good preacher resident. Yo'r ho. and others have so far prevayled as that Mr. Deane is content to allowe fortie markes a yeere unto a curate, w’ch is far more then [than] lately hath bene given. The stipend though it be increased is scarce sufficient, and can not be p’petuall. Scarce sufficient, because there is a fresh complaint made by divers for want of service read in a chappell thereunto belonginge: besides that the parish of Llanvaire (out of w’ch the vicar of Henllan had a liberall portion) may justly expect and doe much want some preachinge.
