Copy of a warrant, dated 31 March, 17 Eliz., to the earl of Leicester for the discovery of concealed lands in the forest of Snowdon, within the counties of Carnarvon, Anglesey, and Merioneth; 1575- The coppie of a warraunt for the Erie of Leicester of concealed landes in the fforrest of Snowdon, &c. Right trustie and right welbeloved and trustie and right welbeloved, and trustie and wel- beloved wee greete youe well. Whereas wee be crediblie informed and given to understand that divers and sondrie mannors, mesuages, landes, tenements, rents, woodes, underwoodes, wastgroundes, fishings, comons and other hereditaments, aswell w’thin o’r forest of Snowdon in Northwales, and the lymitts of the same forest, as also in o’r counties of Carnarvan, Anglisey and Merionneth in North Wales aforesaid, nowe ben and of longe tyme heretofore have ben, by way of purpresture assert and encrochment unjustlie and wrongfully withholden deteyned concealed and withdrawne from us and from sundrie of o’r most noble progenitors, to the greate prejudice and disherison of us and o’r imperiall crowne, Know ye that wee, mindinge the reformac’on of the premisses, and to redeeme the same from the hands possession and occu- pac’on of such as doeth w’thout lawe justice or equitie, hold occupie and enjoye the same mannors, landes, tenements and other the premisses so unjustlie w’thholden deteyned or con- cealed, and to employ and bestowe the same for and towards the advauncement of o’r right trustie and right welbeloved cosin and counseller Robert erle of Leicester, in considerac’on of his good loyall and faithfull service to us heretofore and dayly by him don, are pleased and contented to give and graunt unto the said Erie of Leicester his heires and assignes forever, all mannors, mesuags, lands, tenements, rents, woods, underwoods, wastgrounds, com’ons, (fishings and other hereditaments whatsoever w’thin o’r said forest of Snowdon in North Wales aforesaid, and the meetes, boundes, circuite, precinct, compasse and lymitts of the same fforrest and elswhere w’thin o’r said counties of Carnarvan, Anglisey, Merion- eth, and in all and everie of them, heretofore unlawfully encroched asserted purprested concealed wrongfully w’tholden or deteyned from us or anie of o’r said progenitors, and w’ch of right, might or ought to have come to o’r hands and possession as in the right of o’r ymperiall crowne, or for or by reason of the dissoluc’on sur- render or suppression of anie late monasterie, priorie, colledg, chaunterie, ffreechappell, gilde fraternitie corporac’on or of anie ecclesiasticall use promoc’on or of anie other matter cause or article conteyned in the statutes and acts of parliament heretofore made](https://iiif.wellcomecollection.org/image/b29001043_0001_0079.jp2/full/800%2C/0/default.jpg)
