A draft letter submitted by Mr. serjeant Lloyd to lord Burghley for his signature calling upon Mr. Hughes, the crown receiver for North Wales, to cease his demands’ upon the first-named; c. 1590. The demands were made in respect of the township of Trefdraeth in Anglesea, Krochynan in Flintshire, fee as bailiff and rent gatherer of Malltraeth, and fee for the portership of the town of Caernarvon at 2d. per day. The following somewhat different items may be separately mentioned: (b) fif. 1-5. An account of the office of Queen’s Solicitor in Wales, with suggestions for its improvement. Is probably a draft made for lord Burghley’s consideration, and contains his amendments. (c) ff. 6-yb. A statement drawn up for the Privy Council of the bribes, extortions, champerteys and concealments practiced by William Thomas, esquire, of the county of Carnarvon, and proved against him by various commissions.
