![Tlio Infant Death-rate was 146-54 per lOOO registered births, as euiiipared witli 138-82 in 1894; 323-11 per 1000 total deaths ; and 5-3 per 1000 living. Phthisis (Consumption),—This disease caused 36 deaths, i.e., 26 loss than in 1894 : the death-rate was -65 per 1000 living. Cancer caused 35 deaths in 1895; an increase of 11 on the ligures for 1894, and 7-2 above the average for the last 10 years : the deatli-rate was -04 per 1000 living. Deaths in Public Institutions numbered 34, viz. Ilasford Worldiouse, 17 ; County Asylum, 5 ; General Hos[)ital, 4 ; and Ilkeston Hospital, 8. I am indebted to Mr. W. Turnbull, Dr. Aplin, Mr. E. M. Keeley, and Miss M. A. Barker respectively, for furnishing these particulars. Inquests.—Coroners’ Inquests were held in 38 cases (as com- pared with 34 in 1894)—33 males and 5 females—i.e., in 4-1 per cent, of the total deaths. The age periods were : — Uudei- 1 yr. 1-.5 yrs. .5-15 yrs. 15-25 yrs. 25-G5 yrs.
