![The drainage of Wilford lias been slightly improved by alterations to manholes and cleaning out panterpits, but tlie sanitary conditions of the village still remain in an unsatisfactory condition. Generally, many small alterations in the sanitary arrangements of the various villages have been made, and the ou'fall dykes have been well attended to througliont. In various villages water-mains and lighting have been extended. Many untrapped grates liave been replaced by gullies, and several badly constructed leaking deep midden privies, on private property, have been reconstructed. Sketch plans af model privies, ashpits and tub closets agreeing with the Model Bye-laws of the Local Government Board, and also plans showing proper house drainage, ventilation, and cesspools (where allowed) have been drawn out by Mr. Maylan, and been printed for distribution among builders, etc. Building operations have been increasing rapidly in various portions of the District, over 200 plans having been passed by the Authority during the past year, besides a considerable number of small alterations to building's, piggeries and out-offices approved by the Surveyors on their rounds and not necessitating the depositing of plans. The other Cemeteries in your District are well kept, and sufficient for immediate future demands. The Isolation Hospital, or “ Sanatorium ” as it is proposed to call it (to avoid confusion with the Borough Isolation Ho.spital close by) is situated in the parish of Basford, on the Huck- nall Road leading to Bulwell Forest, and about 200 yards from Arnold Lane coming from Vernon Eoad, Basford. It is in the angle formed by the Nottingham and Newstead, and Nottingham and Derby branches of the Great Northern Railway which bound it on the North- east and South-west ; and the new M. S_ & L. Railway passes on its We.st side, so that it is practically surrounded by railways, the advan- tage of which is, to limit the near a])proach of building operations in](https://iiif.wellcomecollection.org/image/b28906627_0025.jp2/full/800%2C/0/default.jpg)
