An account of the tryal and examination of Joseph Reader , a miller, living at Shaftesbury in Dorsetshire; who was try'd on Friday, March 21, at the Assizes held at Dorchester, before the Honourable Mr. Baron Bury, for hanging one James Smith, a highway-man (whom he had taken) on a Tree, contrary to Law. With an Account how he was Acquitted, and had 30 l. given him by the Company for his Enccouragement, with other Memorable Passages at the Tryal. To which is also added an Account of the Dying-Speech the Highway-Man made to him before his Execution, and other Words that pass'd between them.
