In 1981, one of Dr Dally's patients was convicted of supplying drugs (although it was not proved that the drugs which were supplied had been prescribed by her), and this led to the GMC taking disciplinary action against her for issuing prescriptions to this patient otherwise than in the course of bona fide treatment. On 7th July 1983 Dally was found guilty of serious professional misconduct and publicly reprimanded. In 1985 another patient was convicted for selling heroin. Following an investigation by the Home Office Drugs Branch, the GMC again took disciplinary proceedings against her for irresponsible prescribing and neglect with regard to the treatment of this one patient. On 30th January 1987 she was again found guilty of serious professional misconduct in relation to the second of two heads of the charge of issuing prescriptions for controlled drugs in an irresponsible manner and failing to arrange after care for the patient whom she had discharged from her care. Following an unsuccessful appeal to the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council, she was banned from prescribing controlled drugs for 14 months.
