Description

Photograph of four pairs of Chinese shoes for feet that have undergone the practice of foot binding. The top pair were purchased at auction by the Wellcome Historical Medical Museum in 1930 and accessioned in 1939 (accession number R2528/1939). The pair second from top were acquired by the Museum at an unknown point and accessioned in 1936 (accession number R8784/1936). The bottom left pair include a pair of model feet in side the shoes and were purchased at auction in 1929 and accessioned in 1939 (accession number R2520/1939). The bottom right pair were purchased at auction in 1929 and accessioned in 1939 (accession number R2519/1939).
