Description

Photograph of an oil painting by Gilbert Stuart, of Sir Charles Hastings (1794-1866), surgeon and founder of the British Medical Association. The painting was acquired at auction from Bonhams on 26th November 1915, Lot 745, and accessioned by the Wellcome Historical Medical Museum on 7th January 1930 (CC 5101). Another photograph of this image was accessioned by the Wellcome Historical Medical Museum on 16th March 1936 (PHO 7690).
