[Notebook] NOT HELD BY THE WELLCOME LIBRARY

This notebook is not held by the Wellcome Library, not being found in Crick's papers when they were acquired: a reference and catalogue entry have been created for it so that it can be slotted into the appropriate location in the catalogue should it be found.

A notebook (wanting) for the period July-August, 1952, containing notes of Crick's attempts to prove base-pairing experimentally. The notebook is cited in the bibliography to Robert Olby, The Path to the Double Helix (1994), p. 467, and featured amongst items provisionally listed for sale (Jeremy Norman) at Christie's, New York (April 2003). The sale did not proceed - see Nature, 422 (2003), 102.
