About this work

Description

An artwork by Tuberculosis Patient 17 which shows the patient's view from the hospital garden which Rita Simon said he was wheeled out in his bed to enjoy. The view is of buildings and houses near to the hospital. Rita Simon said: "Again we see the sensitivity which he gave to detail, which was not over-emphasised but held its place in the whole."

Part of the description of this artwork and the quote are taken from notes made during conversations between Rita Simon and Wellcome staff between 1995 and 1997.

The title has been taken from wording written on the verso of the artwork by Rita Simon.

On the verso of the artwork, Rita Simon has named the hospital that the patient was in, the title of the artwork and the words, "4th painting."

Rita Simon classified this artwork as Traditional Massive.
