This reproduction was made during the VI International Congress for the History of Medicine held in Leiden 1927 at the Exposition d'art Medico-Historique and is described as Tableaux [Painting] 27, La saignee; le chirurgien Jacob Franz. Hercules dans son etuve a Amsterdam', in the exhibition catalogue. The original painting was held in the Oranjeappel orphanage, Amsterdam.
